“Lee Frank is a food blogger living in New York City, but his Philadelphia roots run deep. He currently runs a successful food blog about nachos in New York (appropriately titledNachoNY), but he hasn’t forgotten about his pals back home. This weekend, Frank brings his love of nachos back to his hometown, with the Philadelphia Nacho Crawl.”
logo_grubstreet“It’s nearly time to sit down and tuck into a big helping of delicious tryptophan with a side of family tension. In other words, Thanksgiving dinner! What will you do after the turkey trauma and family drama has passed? Grub Street will be taking a four-day snooze, but we leave you with this useful jumble of drink specials, food truck sighting and nacho crawling to help get you through the long weekend. We’ll see you back here Monday morning. Read on for details.”

Join the fun this Saturday, November 28th, 3-6pm. RSVP for entry to Lee@NachosNY.com.

Noise for Nachos: Check out our Press Coverage

Posted by John Steele On November - 25 - 2009

Ever since we announced the Philly Nacho Crawl, people have been freaking out. While the response has been overwhelming, it should come as no surprise. We all know Philly doesn’t do anything half-assed, especially when it comes to delicious nachos. So far, over 40 nacho lovers have RSVP’d to Lee@NachosNY.com to join in the party. The Philly blogosphere has been good to us as well. See what they had to say below:

Picture 1“Lee Frank may be a New York food blogger — he runs the all-nachos siteNachosNY — but having grown up here in Philly, he still reps hard. So when Frank comes home next week for Thanksgiving, he’ll be mixing his wonderful past with his dizzying present for what is, as best we know, the first-ever Nacho Crawl Philadelphia. And after the long civic trauma that was the Snuggie Crawl, we’re inclined to go with him. After all, we should let the healing begin. And nothing is better for healing than… nachos. Well, weed is good, too, but hey: Nachos.”
Picture 2NachosNY.com is just what it sounds like, a nacho site out of New York. They review nachos and offer “Chos Before Hoes” t-shirts. Lee Frank who runs the site is originally from Philadelphia and is going to be hosting a “curated” nacho crawl here on Saturday, November 28th. $10 will get you nachos at the Royal Tavern, La Lupe and Cantina Los Caballitos.”

header_1“I have to say that I am pretty happy with my life when I get an email from a stranger telling me about at nacho crawl they are planning. Uh yes please and I am so there!  Have I mentioned I love nachos? At this point I guess I am coming off as that girl who loves everything but I guess I kind of do. Especially when it is smothered in cheese and guacamole.”

Picture 1“Spend your Sat afternoon in South Philly, where this $10 mini-tour lets you go to town on nachos at Royal Tavern, La Lupe (both chicken & beef), and Cantina los Caballitos (chorizo), plus gets you Crawl-specific drink specials at the first two and Crawl-provided Tecate at Lupe, all under the trusted direction of Lee Frank, the founder of the blog NachosNY and a die-hard aficianacho.”

Thanks guys! The check is in the mail.

Nachomecoming: NachosNY creator Lee Frank crawls through South Philly

Posted by John Steele On November - 19 - 2009

When our good friend Lee Frank left Philadelphia to pursue greener pastures in the Big Apple, we always knew his blogging would garner him success. When Frank started NachosNY.com, he turned his talents to his favorite food and before he knew it, he was the Nacho king of New York. Now, with America’s favorite glutton-friendly holiday right around the corner, Frank is Guac of the Walk, bringing his famous Nacho Crawls back home to South Philly.

Lady GaGa: We Have Created A Monster!

Posted by John Steele On November - 11 - 2009

Lady GaGa is the Pop Megastar we Deserve

Don’t get me wrong, I resisted this for a long time. Lady GaGa’s terrifyingly hypnotic house beats and chant-y melodies do nothing for me except give me a headache. But her new tune, Bad Romance, and the amazingly bizarre video to follow, are a rare breed of brilliance.
But beyond her wildly popular dance tunes, odd fashion sense and questions about her sexuality, Lady GaGa represents something deeper. Like many groundbreaking artists, she is more representative of a time and place than she is a good musician. Her specific brand of visual marketing, dance-trance and repetitive, signal-jamming sing-a-longs could only exist now.
